What is keratin in haircare?

Keratin is a structural protein found naturally in hair. In cosmetic formulas, manufacturers may use protein-derived ingredients such as hydrolyzed keratin, which is broken into smaller components so it can be incorporated into shampoos, conditioners and treatments.

These ingredients can support a smoother feel, improved manageability and stronger-looking hair by interacting with the hair surface. That is different from permanently replacing the hair's original structure or healing a living tissue.

Damage changes the surface, feel and behaviour of the hair fibre

Colour services, chemical processing, ultraviolet exposure, repeated heat and mechanical friction can affect the cuticle and internal structure of the hair shaft. Hair may then feel rougher, tangle more easily, lose shine or break more readily during handling.

Cosmetic care cannot turn an already emerged hair fibre back into untouched virgin hair. It can improve the surface, reduce friction, support manageability and help protect against avoidable additional stress.

Why is keratin often hydrolyzed for cosmetic formulas?

Keratin itself is a large, resistant structural protein. Hydrolysis breaks protein material into smaller peptides and amino-acid components that are easier to formulate into cosmetic products.

Laboratory research suggests hydrolyzed keratin can deposit on the cuticle and, under specific test conditions, partially penetrate the cortex. In one recent study involving UV-exposed hair samples, a hydrolyzed-keratin treatment formed a surface film and helped maintain certain measured properties compared with untreated samples.

That mechanism is useful context — not permission to claim every keratin shampoo reconstructs the cortex or that every Celine Claire formula has produced the same laboratory result.

They do not reproduce the chemical and heat-controlled process of a professional smoothing treatment. They do not promise permanent straightening or a guaranteed number of extra treatment weeks. Service longevity also depends on the original service, hair condition, wash frequency, water quality, heat habits and aftercare.

Hair Botox is a cosmetic name, not a medical injection

In this product family, Hair Botox refers to haircare positioning around smoothing, conditioning and intensive treatment. It does not mean the formula contains injectable botulinum toxin, and it is never represented with needles, syringes, facial-injection imagery or medical promises.

Keratin & Botox Shampoo and Conditioner are maintenance products. Hair Botox is a separate treatment. Nano Keratin Protein is another separate professional smoothing product. All four identities stay distinct in headings, filters and related products.

Professional means the protocol is part of the product

Nano Keratin Protein is not a home-use mask. Customers should not improvise the procedure or use generic online temperatures and pass counts.

Choose by hair behaviour, not a viral test

There is no reliable universal home test that proves every rough or stretchy strand has protein deficiency. Hair behaviour is influenced by texture, chemical history, heat exposure, porosity, water quality, product buildup and handling.

A protein-related product may fit when chemically processed or weathered hair needs more structure, smoother feel and manageability. But using more protein is not automatically better. Hair that begins to feel stiff, coated, rough or difficult to style may need a simpler routine and professional assessment rather than another layer of treatment.

The floating-hair-in-water porosity test is not diagnostic science, and a single strand-snap test does not identify a medical or structural deficiency.
